AIRVENTURE 2024 – A technical guy’s feeble try at writing a poem to celebrate the EAA AirVenture event that I attended this summer. I ask for forgiveness before you read it….
I woke up on July 19th excited about the unofficial start of AirVenture 2024 on this date. I have already been there for about 3 weeks and it has been blissfully wonderful. I truly look forward to next week too.
When I escaped the technology world to spend a month in Oshkosh, I tend to revert back to who I am, a wee bit of a creative soul. In this light I have made a poem.
Do not worry, I will be back to my super geek self once I return to work in August. But for now, my heart is flying free aloft in flight….
In skies where dreams and engines soar,
Where clouds are playgrounds, skies explore,
At AirVenture 2024, the world’s delight,
A festival of wings, a wondrous flight.
Engines roar, a symphony of might,
Wings spread wide, embracing flight,
In Oshkosh skies, the world unites,
For aviation’s grandest heights.
Families gather, joy takes flight,
Under the sun’s warm, golden light,
From vintage planes to modern jets,
Each craft a marvel, none forgets.
Pilots share their tales of skies,
Of distant lands and moonlit ties,
Adventures spun from heights so grand,
In every takeoff, every land.
Kids with eyes wide, gazing high,
At acrobatic loops in the sky,
Dreams take root with every flight,
A passion kindled, pure delight.
Workshops buzz with eager minds,
In hangars where the future finds,
New ways to push the boundaries far,
Chasing dreams among the stars.
In twilight’s glow, as engines rest,
The air is filled with love, impressed,
For aviation’s heart beats strong,
In every soul where dreams belong.
So here’s to AirVenture, grand and free,
A celebration of what can be,
In every flight, in every cheer,
A world united, year by year.

He is a founding partner and President of MICAN Communications and before that was President of Comlink Systems Limited and Ensat Broadcast Services, Inc., both divisions of Cygnal Technologies Corporation (CYN: TSX). Martin served on the Board of Directors for TeraGo Inc (TGO: TSX) and on the Board of Directors for Avante Logixx Inc. (XX: TSX.V). He has served as a Member, SCC ISO-IEC JTC 1/SC-41 – Internet of Things and related technologies, ISO – International Organization for Standardization, and as a member of the NIST SP 500-325 Fog Computing Conceptual Model, National Institute of Standards and Technology. He served on the Board of Governors of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) [now OntarioTech University] and on the Board of Advisers of five different Colleges in Ontario.
